红派壹号 (hóng pài yī hào): red pad
This is the Chinese Communist Party’s answer to the iPad. Introduced in January of 2012, the Red Pad was available only to Party cadres, cost approximately twice as much as the iPad, and included stock applications designed to keep the user up-to-date with the latest Party directives. Shortly after its announcement, advertisements and media reports of the Red Pad were pulled when it was vigorously mocked by netizens. For more information, see here and here.
